    TP-Link’s Omada Bridge KIT has up to 5km range

    Businesses and other users who need their networks to cover very large properties, or multiple properties, can now link wirelessly at a range of up to 5 kilometres, by adding an Omada EAP215 Bridge KIT.

    Simple to install and weatherproof, the EAP215 is especially ideal for surveillance, as it allows the direct connection of IP cameras (or any other device, including Omada Wi-Fi APs) via Ethernet ports. Or use it to bring high-speed internet to remote locations on your property, whether they be a far-flung warehouse or even an outdoor installation, such as mustering yards.

    // 802.11ac for 867Mbps over 5GHz

    The EAP215 Bridge KIT uses the tried-and-tested 802.11ac Wi-Fi protocol, making it compatible with a huge range of switches and access points. Consisting of two units, the bridge connects automatically via auto-pairing, and passes data between the units at up to 867Mbps1 at a range of 5 kilometres2. Because the bridge connects automatically, it’s simple to deploy and there’s no need for network managers to upskill. (Actual range and performance will depend on network configuration and other geographical factors, and will tend to be less than the theoretical maximum.)

    // Point-to-point Connection and Gigabit Ethernet

    The EAP215 Bridge KIT is a point-to-point connection that requires minimal configuration out of the box, but at the same time offers flexibility for remote or long-range setup.

    Each of the two units includes three 1Gbps Ethernet points and supports passive Power Over Ethernet. This gives you the flexibility to have the near side of the bridge connected to your switch and PC, while the far side – such as near the boundary of a property – can be connected to two outdoor network cameras (over Ethernet) and a solar power system (via passive POE) with no need to install additional electrical outlets.

    And, while primary usage for the EAP215 Bridge KIT is point-to-point, the main AP can be connected to four other APs to make a point-to-multi-point network.

    // IP65 Weatherproofing with Lightning Protection

    Dust proof and watertight against light water pressure, the EAP215 can be used as an outdoor access point, provided it is given basic protection from extreme weather3. The bridge also includes lightning protection to minimise disruption from electrical storms and keep your network online, which can be vital for assessing damage or keeping lines of communication open. The EAP215 is also a great fit for food and beverage businesses, as it can bring your guests 802.11ac wireless internet to outdoor patios, verandas and terraces that might otherwise be awkward to connect using other access point technologies.

    // Centralised Cloud Management

    The EAP215 Bridge Kit can be controlled and monitored using the Omada Software Defined Networking (SDN) platform, as well as TP-Link’s Centralized Cloud Management system. This setup enables deployment and monitoring of the device both locally and through the cloud.4

    For local management, you can also use the Omada app to operate the EAP215 Bridge Kit in standalone mode without needing cloud connectivity.

    1. Maximum wireless transmission rates are the physical rates derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Range and coverage specifications, along with the number of connected devices, were defined according to test results under normal usage conditions. Actual wireless transmission rate, wireless coverage, and number of connected devices are not guaranteed and will vary as a result of 1) environmental factors, including building materials, physical objects, and obstacles; 2) network conditions, including local interference, volume and density of traffic, product location, network complexity, and network overhead; and 3) client limitations, including rated performance, location, connection quality, and client condition.

    2. All products are tested in real outdoor environments. Actual range and throughput depend on the transmission power and environmental factors such as wireless interference, obstacles, weather, etc.

    3. Protection against lightning and electro-static discharge may be achieved through proper product setup, grounding, and cable shielding. Refer to the instruction manual and consult an IT professional to assist with setting up this product.
