FAQs about migrating devices between Tapo Hubs
Q1: What is device migration between Tapo Hubs?
A: Tapo Hubs support migrating connected devices from one hub to another hub. When your original hub is no longer in use, or you want to use a more powerful hub to manage all connected devices, you can migrate the devices from the original hub to the new hub, avoiding the hassle of re-adding them individually.
Q2: How do we migrate devices between Tapo Hubs?
A: To migrate devices between hubs in the Tapo ecosystem, follow these simple steps:
- Select the Original Hub
Select the original hub from which you want to migrate devices.
- Select the New Hub
Select the new hub to which you want to migrate devices.
- Choose Devices to Migrate
Select the devices you want to migrate to the new hub.
- Verify Migration
Tap Migrate. Tapo will automatically transfer these devices to the new hub.
Q3: How will the migrated devices be affected?
A: The migrated devices will be temporarily unavailable during migration. Once migration is completed, these devices will automatically reconnect. For most devices, the previous device settings will be retained and accessible on the new hub. However, some devices may lose specific configurations and require reconfiguration on the new hub. Please follow the app instructions to re-establish any lost settings.
Q4: What conditions are required to migrate cameras?
- Make sure the firmware versions of the cameras and hubs are up to date.
- Make sure the cameras have sufficient battery or are properly powered up.
- Keep the cameras close to the new hub.
- The number of connected devices supported by the new hub should be larger than that of the original hub.
Q5: How do we trigger sub-1G devices (e.g., sensors) migration?
A: The sub-1G devices can only be migrated when you manually trigger the migration. Try the following methods corresponding to your devices to trigger device migration:
- T100 Motion Sensor: Activate motion detection by moving in front of the device.
- T110 Door/Window Sensor: Open and close the door or window to trigger its detection.
- T310 Temperature & Humidity Monitor: Hold the sensor in your hand or blow on it to create a change in the detected temperature or humidity.
- S200B Button: Single click, double click, or rotate the button to trigger its action.
