Set Up a Standalone Omada Switch
This article introduces how to get started with setting up Omada devices without an Omada Controller.
- Omada AP / Switch / Gateway
You can set up Omada devices individually without an Omada Controller. However, be aware that there are some limitations to the Standalone configuration. Taking Omada APs as an example, when configured without a Controller, certain advanced features like Voucher and Fast Roaming are not available for configuration. Moreover, the Standalone configuration lacks centralized cloud management and key advantages including Auto Backup, Upgrade Schedule, and more advanced features.
Standalone configuration is only recommended for small-scale networks (typically fewer than three APs) with basic feature needs. For highly scalable networks, we suggest using an Omada Controller to set up your Omada devices. Check out Getting Started with an Omada Controller for more details.
