General questions about Deco X50-Outdoor
Please refer to this FAQ: How to configure and install Deco X50-Outdoor properly
Method 1: through IEEE 802.3at PoE switch or IEEE 802.3at PoE adapter(or called PoE injector).
Method 2: through 100-240V~50/60Hz 0.5A AC power supply.
Please refer to this FAQ: General questions about the PoE feature on Deco X50-PoE
Yes. PoE allows for both power and data transmission over the same cable.
It is recommended to keep the distance between X50-Outdoor and the front-end Deco within 33 feet (or 10 meters) to ensure X50-Outdoor receives a good signal from the front-end Deco, no more than 50 feet (or 15 meters). It is preferable to place the front-end Deco near a window to minimize the obstacles between it and the X50-Outdoor in the outdoors. If X50-Outdoor and the front-end Deco are connected via wire, then there is no such restriction.
Installation location can significantly impact performance and coverage range. Here are some suggestions when choosing the right location:
1) Ensure a stable and secure power supply at the installation location. If using PoE, consider the reach of the Ethernet cable. If using AC power, check for nearby outdoor waterproof outlets that can provide power.
2) If X50-Outdoor and the front-end Deco are connected wirelessly, it is recommended to keep the distance between X50-Outdoor and the front-end Deco within 33 feet (or 10 meters) to ensure X50-Outdoor receive good signal from the front-end Deco, no more than 50 feet (or 15 meters). It is preferable to place the front-end Deco near a window to minimize the obstacles between it and the X50-Outdoor in the outdoor. If X50-Outdoor and the front-end Deco are connected via wire, then there is no such restriction.
3) It is recommended to install X50-Outdoor at the center of the target area(where you want to expand the WiFi coverage) to evenly cover the entire area.
4) The recommended installation height is 0 ~ 8m (0~25feet).
5) There should be a clear line of sight between X50-Outdoor and the area to be covered. Buildings, trees, or walls can weaken the signal strength and limit the coverage range.
6) Try to stay away from potential sources of WiFi interference, such as neighboring WiFi networks, high-voltage power lines, electronic devices, and appliances.
7) It is recommended to install X50-Outdoor in the location where receive less rainwater or direct sunlight.
All installations will vary depending on the environment. So it's always good to perform pre- and post-installation site surveys, measured to your desired data rates, as is the case when configuring any wireless extender or Access Point.
The length of the included AC power cable is 3 meters (~9.8ft). You can purchase a longer cable if needed. The Specifications for the AC power cord used by the X50-Outdoor is as follows:
Tail Plug: Plum Gauge
Power: 100-240V~50/60Hz 0.5A AC
Considering non-original power cords have the possibility of being incompatible. You can also choose to buy a waterproof power strip or socket, plug the waterproof power strip or socket into the original socket, and then plug the original cable into the power strip.
The Ethernet Cable included in the box is 1.2 meters (~4 feet). You may purchase and use another Ethernet cable. However, we recommend that the cable not exceed 100m and is rated for outdoor use.
Self-tapping screws: ST3.5 * 30 pan head self-tapping screw, with a head diameter of D6 (must not exceed D8) and a head thickness of 1.8 mm(must not exceed 3).
Plastic wall anchors: D6 (outer diameter) * 30 mm(length).
Screws of the base plate: M2.5(diameter) 7.5(length); Screw head: D4.2(diameter) 1.5(length)
All dimensions are in millimeters (mm).

Yes. Here is the configuration guide for main Deco: How do I set up my Deco?
Deco X50-Outdoor cannot wirelessly relay WiFi signals from other routers or APs. It can only wirelessly relay the WiFi signal from the existing Deco network.
Deco X50-Outdoor can be wired to the LAN port of the existing network. In this case, you can configure as Main Deco for use (both router mode or access point mode are fine).
Please refer to this FAQ: General questions about Ethernet Backhaul feature on your Deco
Yes, X50-outdoor can suppress the common mode surge voltage of 2KV. But we do recommend that you purchase an additional shielded wire to wrap around the Deco's housing to ground the device.
Yes, but you will need additional reinforcement for X50-outdoor to protect the device from high winds.
No, the X50-Outdoor is rated at IP65, meaning that the device is protected from the intrusion of sprayed water.
All TP-Link Deco models. The X50-Outdoor can be added to any existing Deco Mesh network, or used to create a new mesh network.
Covers up to 2500ft² per pack. The Deco X50-Outdoor may be used outside due to its water and dust resistance qualities; however, it is not appropriate for outdoor long-distance communication.
X50-Outdoor can connect over 150 devices, but the actual number of connected devices will depend on the environment and the bandwidth needed by each connected device.
