HomeShield Service Update Notification

On September 12th, 2023, TP-Link will be performing a service update to our HomeShield Security suite. This update will be pushed via the cloud. This update with feature enhancements to the features in HomeShield. After this update is completed, if your Deco or Archer router is running firmware that is listed below, certain HomeShield features may not function properly. To prevent any inconvenience, we strongly recommend updating your device to its current firmware version as soon as possible.

How to update your firmware:

For Archer routers:

1. Follow the FAQ below to log in to the router's web management page:

How to Upgrade the Firmware on the TP-Link Wi-Fi Routers

Go to Advanced > System > Firmware Upgrade > Online Update > Click Update.

2. If the online upgrade fails, please try to upgrade manually:

Go to Advanced > System > Firmware Upgrade > Local Update > Browse > Upload the firmware file with the .bin extension > Click Update. *note you will need to download the firmware from https://www.tp-link.com/.

For Deco:

1. Go to the Deco app > More > System > Update Deco.

2. If the online upgrade fails, please try to upgrade manually via web UI:
