VIGI Local VMS provides centralized cloud management for VIGI Cameras, VIGI NVRs, and VIGI Solar Panels. This article describes how to add VIGI devices to VIGI Local VMS.

Requirements

  • VIGI Local VMS
  • VIGI Camera/VIGI NVR

Introduction

VIGI Local VMS installs the Server on a Windows PC, which is generally used to centrally manage the devices within the same LAN network. Follow the three methods below to add devices to VIGI Local VMS:

Auto Add: Automatically scan and add VIGI devices in the same network segment as the Server.

Manually Add: Manually enter a specific IP address or IP range, and the Server will perform a targeted search and add the device to VIGI Local VMS.

Remotely Add: The method of adding devices that are not in the same network segment as the server. This method requires VIGI devices to actively initiate a connection request with VIGI VMS. To use this method, port forwarding settings are required.

Configuration

Auto Add

Step 1. Log in to the web portal of Local VMS, and click Device to enter the device management page.

Remotely Add

Remotely Add is usually used when the VIGI VMS Server is located within NAT and the VIGI device is at a remote location. In this case, the device needs to be connected to the server via the internet. Therefore, Remotely Add requires both good network connectivity and port forwarding settings on the NAT device.

In addition, using Remotely Add will expose the Server to the public internet, which is less secure than using a local network. For such distributed network management, it is recommended to use VIGI Cloud VMS.

Step 1. Configure port forwarding on the router connected to the Server. Here we need to configure the ports as 8081, 8082, 10123 and 10556.

Step 2. Log in to the web management interface of the remote VIGI device, and then go to Settings > Network Settings > Platform Access.

Step 3. Enable Access to VIGI VMS, enter the public IP address of the router connected to the VIGI VMS, and configure the port for connecting VMS (10123 by default).

The Platform Access option in the VIGI Device’s web management interface.

Step 4. Log in to the web portal of VIGI Local VMS, click Device to enter the device management page, click Add, and select Remotely Add. Then a remote IPC device will be displayed in the device list.
