In this article, we’ll demonstrate how to set up the Schedule, Away Mode, and Timer features, using smart plugs and bulbs as examples.

Schedule

Case One. Create a schedule for a single device

  1. On the Tapo app Home page, click device card to enter device page.
  2. Choose Schedule, then tap the + icon on the upper right corner to add a new schedule.
    • Choose either a Custom Time, Sunrise, or Sunset time. When choosing Sunrise or Sunset, you can also set an offset time. The time of Sunrise and Sunset will be synchronized according to regional realities.
    • Set the Repeat times within a week.
  3. Click Save. After creating schedules, you can always enable or disable them manually

Case Two. Create a schedule for multiple devices at once.

To set up a schedule for multiple devices at once, please refer to the following steps.

Note: This method utilizes automation, which requires the smart device to be connected to the internet to operate.

  1. Open Tapo App, go to Smart -> Click the ‘+’ icon on the top right corner -> Choose Automation/ Smart Actions.
  2. Tap Add Trigger -> choose Time of Day.

  1. Now you can start to set the scheduled time, then click Done.
  • Choose either a Custom Time, Sunrise, or Sunset time. When choosing Sunrise or Sunset, you can also set an offset time.

*The time of Sunrise and Sunset will be synchronized according to regional realities.

  • Set the Repeat times within a week.

  1. Next, click “Add Action” to choose what smart devices you would like to control by the above time settings.
    1. If you want to turn on/off different devices separately, e.g. while turning on living room lighting, turn off bedroom lighting, choose “Control One Device”, select a smart device, set it to be turned on/off, then add it to the action list.

Repeat the process, adding the devices that you want to turn on/off via the schedule to the action list one by one.

    1. To perform the same action on all devices, here are two methods:

Method One: Click “Add Action” -> Choose “Control Multiple Devices”, Select the devices you want to turn on via this schedule. Then tap Done.

Method Two. Create a Group for the smart devices in advance. How to Add a Group to Your Tapo Devices

Then add this group to the action list: choose Control One Device, locate the Group section in the list, and choose a group.
