Trovare l'MTU corretto

Per trovare l'MTU corretto per la configurazione, è necessario eseguire un semplice test di ping DOS. Invierai semplicemente richieste di ping e riduci progressivamente le dimensioni del pacchetto fino a quando il pacchetto non deve più essere frammentato. Si prega di fare riferimento ai seguenti passaggi:

Il comando per questo test ping è ping www.tp-link.com -f -l xxxx.

• È possibile utilizzare qualsiasi dominio ben noto e pingabile come ping www.google.com -f -l xxxx al posto di www.tp-link.com per il test.

• C'è un solo spazio tra ciascun comando.

• "-l" è una lettera L minuscola, non il numero uno.

• Gli ultimi quattro numeri indicano la dimensione del pacchetto di prova.

Passo 1

Aprire una schermata del prompt di DOS facendo clic su Start> Programmi> MSDOS-PROMPT. È inoltre possibile utilizzare il comando Esegui facendo clic su Start> Esegui, quindi digitare "cmd" per Windows 2000 / XP / Vista o "comando" per Windows 95/98 / ME.

Passo 2

Al prompt del DOS digitare ping www.tp-link.com -f -l 1472 e premere Invio. Si noti che il pacchetto deve essere frammentato. (Figura 1)

Step 3
Drop the test packet size down (10 or 12 bytes) and test again. Notice that the packet still needs to be fragmented. (Figure 2)

Abbassa la dimensione del pacchetto di test (10 o 12 byte) e riprova. Si noti che il pacchetto deve ancora essere frammentato. (Figura 2)

Step 4
Drop the test packet size down more and test again until your reach a packet size that does not fragment. (Figure 3)

Rilasciare di più le dimensioni del pacchetto di prova e riprovare fino a raggiungere una dimensione del pacchetto che non si frammenti. (Figura 3)

Step 5
Once you have a test packet that is not fragmented increase your packet size in small increments and retest until you find the largest possible packet that doesn´t fragment.

Passo 5

Una volta che hai un pacchetto di test che non è frammentato, aumenta la dimensione del pacchetto in piccoli incrementi e riprova a trovare il pacchetto più grande possibile che non si frammenti.

Step 6
Take the maximum packet size from the ping test and add 28. You add 28 bytes because 20 bytes are reserved for the IP header and 8 bytes must be allocated for the ICMP Echo Request header. Remember: You must add 28 to your results from the ping test!

Passo 6

Prendi la dimensione massima del pacchetto dal test ping e aggiungi 28. Aggiungi 28 byte perché 20 byte sono riservati per l'intestazione IP e 8 byte devono essere allocati per l'intestazione Richiesta eco ICMP. Ricorda: devi aggiungere 28 ai tuoi risultati dal test ping!

Problems connecting to my VPN or my applications stall and time out.

There are usually two common problems associated with VPN connectivity.

You can´t connect to the VPN server at all.
-If you can not connect to your VPN server at all and have a router the VPN application may require you to either open certain ports, assign an IP to a specific computer, or use a separate PPPoE client directly on the computer.

You can connect and authenticate to the VPN server but nothing else happens and applications stall, time out, or fail to load.
-If you can connect and authenticate but applications stall, time out, or fail to load your MTU (Maximum Transfer Unit) may be incorrect.

Non è possibile connettersi al server VPN.

-Se non riesci a connetterti al tuo server VPN e disponi di un router, l'applicazione VPN potrebbe richiedere di aprire determinate porte, assegnare un IP a un computer specifico o utilizzare un client PPPoE separato direttamente sul computer.

È possibile connettersi e autenticarsi al server VPN, ma non accade nient'altro e le applicazioni si bloccano, scadono o non si caricano.

-Se è possibile connettersi e autenticarsi ma le applicazioni si bloccano, scadono o non riescono a caricare l'MTU (Maximum Transfer Unit) potrebbe non essere corretta.
