TP-Link Makes Massive Market Gains in Q1 2012

(Shenzhen, China) – August 15, 2012 – TP-Link, a global provider of networking products, made dramatic gains over competitors in the first quarter of 2012. With 38% market share in the residential WLAN markets, based on unit shipments, the company leads the next two leading vendors’ market shares combined  ABI Research’s study “Wi-Fi Equipment Market Tracker” reported this increase in July, 2012.

TP-Link had equally strong growth in the Broadband CPE sector, seeing a nearly 10% increase in market share in 2011, shipping 35 million DSL products. TP-Link’s first quarter in 2012 was even more impressive, with the company shipping 32% of all Broadband CPE 54% of all DSL CPE devices shipped in that quarter, according to ABI Research’s study “Broadband Customer Premise Equipment”  also published in July, 2012 .  “Operators are looking to increase the level of integration of their customer premise equipment.” according to Adarsh Krishnan, Senior Analyst at ABI Research.  “Wi-Fi integration, increasing support for QoS, network management and security are becoming more important in the market for broadband modems, routers and gateways.”While being pleased with these results, the company believes that the best is yet to come, with TP-Link Director of International Business, Jeffrey Chao saying, “We see these results as an effective measure that we are achieving our goals, providing our end-users with the value that we strive to provide, we are determined to improve many aspects of our product offerings, with more technically advanced and esthetically pleasing devices as well as more user-friendly end-user experiences and after-sales services”.

Having rapidly grown since entering the international market in 2005 and already having taken the leading market share in China, TP-Link is one of the only networking equipment vendors with independent manufacturing facilities. These state-of-the-art facilities, in tandem with large investments into R&D and strict quality control has allowed the company to tightly control costs and provide networking devices of the highest quality, at an affordable price to end-users; an effective strategy it would seem, given the results.
