Part 1. Basic Information

Q1: Is the Tapo C410 KIT waterproof?

Yes, waterproof rubbers make the device IPX5 waterproof. Do not tear off the silicone part by force as it may affect the waterproof performance. Keep the ports firmly covered when not in use to ensure waterproof performance.

Q2: Can the battery of the Tapo C410 be removed?

The battery cannot be removed, however it can be used in conjunction with solar panels to provide continuous charging, eliminating the risk of running out of electricity.

Q3: How long is the charging cord for the Tapo A201 solar panel?

Charging cord length is 20cm/25cm, and can be extend with the 380 cm long A201 extension cord in the package.

Q4: Is a PIR sensor used by the camera?

Indeed, PIR sensors are used by the Tapo C410 to sense movement and wake up. The PIR's effective awakening distance from the front is approximately 7-8 meters at maximum sensitivity. Please tilt the camera downwards at an angle of about 20°, the excessive tilt angle will cause a significant reduction in the PIR's effective distance.

Q5: Does the camera have to be connected to the router's Wi-Fi or the Hub?

The camera can only connect to the router's 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and does not need Hub connections.

Part 2. Power Related

Q1: How long does it take for the solar panel to fully charge the camera?

The amount of sunshine has an impact on how long it takes to charge. If the solar panel is functioning properly and receives enough sunlight, it takes two to three days for the camera to fully charge when it is switched off.

Q2: How long can the camera work without utilizing a power source after it is fully charged?

Battery life of up to 180 days is based on TP-Link’s laboratory testing triggering 10–20 events per day. Actual battery life may vary based on device settings, use, and environmental factors.

Note:

It is not suggested to direct the camera at the street, road, or other regions that cause the camera to wake up frequently, since this would significantly drain the battery's capacity. Please see the FAQ for information on how to extend the battery life.

Q3: How long can the camera work with the Tapo A201 solar panel connected when it's raining or cloudy outside?

The solar panel is essentially unable to collect solar energy to power the camera on rainy days. Depending on the amount of light, how often the camera wakes up, and other factors, it varies on cloudy days.

Q4: Aside from the Tapo A201 solar panel, can other solar panels or USB charging devices be used to charge the camera?

The C410 can be powered by USB Type-C charging devices and solar panels with a regulated 5V output. With 5V1A USB adapter, the C410 takes 7.5 hours to charge from 0% to 100%.

Note

We always recommend using our official device for charging. If you use a third-party solar panel or charging device, we cannot guarantee the waterproof performance etc. The charging time data is from the laboratory, actual times may vary.

Part 3. Video Related

Q1: Does the camera support ONVIF or RTSP?

RTSP and ONVIF are not supported by the C410.

Q2: Is it possible for the camera to record continuously?

No, even with an SD card inserted, the camera is not able to record continually. Continuous recording consumes power quickly and will require you to charge the battery frequently. We recommend purchasing a non-battery model if you want to record continuously.

Q3: Is it possible for the camera to capture video even when it isn't connected to the internet?

Yes, the camera can continue to record video to the SD card even when it is not connected to the internet.
