Deco M9 Plus/Deco M5 is supposed to get warm under normal operation conditions as an electronic device. Due to their slightly flat design, and with the surface closer to the device's cooling module, Deco M9 Plus/Deco M5 may feel a little warmer than the devices having cylinder design. However, it's confirmed strictly that Deco could work continuously without any problems/safety hazards at a room temperature of 40 °C/104°F due to the test results in TP-Link's lab.

A cool and well-ventilated environment is ideal for the Deco products, please:

1.To prevent potential risks caused by heat, do not place Deco on paper, cloth, fabrics, plastics that are not heat-resistant, or any other surface that doesn’t provide space beneath your device for heat dissipation.

2. Put your Deco in the open, do not cover your Deco with any objects, avoid placing your Deco in a closed space, don't let it suffocate.

3. Avoid placing your Deco on top of any running electronic devices. Putting two electronic devices together would greatly increase the surrounding temperature, which is bad for the Deco and the device beneath it.

4. Keep your Deco away from direct heat (like fireplaces and space heaters) or excessive sunlight.

5. Use the original power adapter that came with the Deco.

If you are uncertain that your Deco is operating at a normal temperature, or you worry your Deco is getting too warm, you can always compare the temperature of your Decos to one another. While slight difference is expected as they operate in different environment, significant differences are not common, if you notice anything out of the ordinary please contact our support team for further assistance.
