How to connect my Tapo smart door lock to Google Home

This guide will show you how to connect your Tapo smart door lock to your Google Home. Once connected, you can use simple voice commands to control your lock.

NOTE: Please update both the Tapo app and Tapo smart door lock to the latest one first.

Link Tapo service with Google Home

To get started, make sure your Tapo device is set up and online. There are two options for connecting the Tapo smart door lock to Google Home.

Option 1:

  1. Open the Tapo app, tap Me > Third-Party Service > Google Assistant > Tapo Actions.

  1. Tap Link from Google Home app, then it will turn to the Google Home app automatically.

3. Google Home will start the link procedure and open the Tapo app. Tap Agree & Link.

4. The link procedure is finished. You will see the devices linked to your TP-Link ID. Select your lock and assign it to a room.

5. Your lock is connected successfully. Toggle on Control via Google and set a security code for future use. This code is needed to control your lock via voice commands. Note that this code can only be reset and cannot be retrieved.

Option 2:

  1. Open the Google Home app, tap device menu and then tap the Add button.

  1. Tap Works with Google Home.

  1. Search Tapo and Tap Tapo, it will automatically open the Tapo app and start link procedure.

  1. The following steps are the same as Option 1.

Enjoy!

You can lock/unlock your Tapo Smart Door Lock using simple voice commands. For example: “Hey Google, unlock my Tapo Smart Door Lock”.

Note: Every time you change the name of the Tapo device, you will need to discover the device again to update its name.
