How to optimize and edit Map of Tapo Robot Vacuum
Quick Mapping only provides a basic outline of the entire house. Once the quick map is complete, start a whole-house clean and the details on the map will be added automatically.
At the same time, you can optimize and edit the map to fit your home and make it closer to your real home.
Go to the home page of the robot vacuum, tap Smart Cleaning, and tap the Map icon on the top right to select the map you want to edit. Tap Edit Map to explore these features!
Note: The Carpet and Cleaning Direction features are available exclusively in the RV20 Max/RV30 Max series.
If you wish to adjust the orientation of the map, tap "Rotate Map" and tap to adjust the map orientation. Tap "Save" to apply settings.
The robot vacuum will create a map for you before the 1st cleaning. If the smart map doesn’t match your house type, you can customize it yourself using the Merge Room and Divide Room features. Also, you can customize the name of the room. To edit rooms, click on the Room and follow the instructions below.
Divide Room
Divide a room into two rooms. Tap Divide and choose a room on the map you want to divide. There will be a line to help you divide the room. You can drag two ends of the line to adjust. Tap the confirm button to divide the room into 2 rooms.
Merge Room
Combine two rooms into one room. Tap “Merge” and choose the rooms next to each other. Then tap the confirm button to merge rooms.
Rename Room
After the robot vacuum creates the map, the names of your rooms are the default ones. You can edit it to help you easily check the map and set the cleaning plan. Tap the edit icon of the room on the map. Edit the name and choose the color for the room. Tap Save to apply.
You can add No-Go Zones and a Virtual Wall to designate areas in your home where you don’t want your robot vacuum to go. Tap “Virtual Wall/No-Go Zones” and choose to add No-Go Zones or Virtual Wall and adjust the No-Go Zones or Virtual Wall as needed.
Virtual Wall
Creates an invisible barrier that your robot vacuum won't cross, which will confine it to a particular area and prevent it from getting too close to anything delicate or dangerous, like the stairs.
Note: The virtual wall cannot pass through the charging station.
No-Go Zones
Add rectangular zones to your smart map, which is ideal for keeping your robot vacuum away from pet bowls, clutter, or other areas where your robot vacuum has difficulty navigating. If there is an area in your home where your robot vacuum may get stuck multiple times, adding a No-Go Zone on that area of your smart map can help.
Note: The no-go zone cannot pass through the charging station and should not be too close to the charging station.
No-Mop Zones
Add no-mop zones where your robot vacuum won’t go when the mop cloth mount is installed.
Note:
1. The No-Mop Zones feature applies to non-MAX series; for RV20 Max/RV30 Max series, please refer to the 6 Carpet Feature section.
2. In order to prevent the mop from wetting the carpet, once the mop cloth is mounted, it will not enter the no-mopping zone, if you want to clean the carpeted area, you need to remove the mop cloth mount first.
Tap "Furniture", choose desired furniture and place them in the right positions based on your actual home. Tap the furniture to adjust, move, or delete it.
Note: After adding furniture, the robot vacuum can still sweep through the furniture area.
The robot vacuum will clean the room in a default pattern. You can set a designated cleaning direction for it to follow. To effectively clean floor gaps on wooden or plank-shaped floors, let the robot vacuum clean along the floor direction.
Tap "Cleaning Direction", choose a room and set the desired cleaning direction. Tap "Save" to apply settings.
Note: The set cleaning direction will be applied to all cleaning jobs.
Add carpet areas to the map and customize cleaning preferences for the carpet areas. You can set your robot vacuum to avoid moving over or cleaning the carpets. Follow the steps below for carpet setting.
