Q1: How many schedule rules can I create for each Smart device?

A: You can set up as many as 32 rules for each smart device. However, each schedule rule can only apply to one smart device.

If you want to set up a schedule for several devices at the same time, you may go to this link to try the Automation/ Smart Action feature.

Q2: Will schedule, timer, and away mode still work when the Smart device does not have internet access?

A: Yes

Note: If smart devices experience a power outage, they need to reconnect to the internet to resynchronize the device time. Otherwise, the schedule, timer, and away mode feature will not continue to work.

Q3: What can I do if the schedule/timer/away mode can’t be edited or does not take effect or takes effect at the wrong time?

A: To get your concern around, please tap here to follow the troubleshooting steps.

Q4: What can I do if the sunrise/sunset times of my Smart bulbs/switches/plugs at the same location do not match?

A: To maintain consistency of sunrise/sunset time among your smart devices at the same location, please reset and reconfigure them to Tapo/Kasa App within a 10-minute timeframe, using the same phone at the same location.

For Kasa devices, you can also resync the location in the Kasa for all of your devices directly by tapping Me -> Tap Settings -> Tap Location and Time -> Location to sync Location or Enter location manually.

Note:

  • Because of the small differences in the algorithms used by Kasa and Tapo to determine sunrise/sunset times, there may be a 1 to 2 minute variation between a Kasa device and a Tapo device at the same location.
  • Sunrise and sunset times are synced based on regional reality, as determined by the smart device's latitude and longitude. If the smart devices were configured at different times and locations, the latitude and longitude information may fluctuate somewhat, resulting in discrepancies in sunrise and sunset times between devices.

Q5: Can the Schedule/Timer/Away mode still work after manually powering off the bulb via a physical switch?

A: No, When you manually turn off the physical switch which is connected to the bulb, it means that you cut the power to the bulb. All the functions of the bulb cannot be realized without power.

Q6: Can I configure the Away mode of the Smart devices across days?

A: For the Tapo smart devices: Yes, to make the away mode take effect across days, set the end time earlier than the start time.

For the Kasa smart devices: No, the away mode feature on Kasa smart devices should set the time settings within the same day, it cannot span across days (e.g. from 10 PM to 6 AM the next day).

Q7: How does the Kasa/Tapo App prioritize the schedule, timer, and away mode?

A: The prioritization among them would be: Timer>Schedule>Away mode.

Q8: At the top of the Home page why do I sometimes see a schedule but sometimes not?

A: The schedule on the top is showing the one to be executed first today. If there is a schedule to be executed, you can see it on the top, it's like a reminder. You could also click the schedule to view and edit schedules to be executed.

If all the corresponding schedules have been executed, we won’t see the schedule reminder on the top of the Home page.
