How to install adapters on Windows 8 if plug-and-play fails
NOTE:
Before the installation, please download the latest Windows 8 driver of your adapters and refer to FAQ451 to install it manually.
Old or useless drivers may affect the installation of the new driver, it is recommended to remove the old driver first, please refer to FAQ 3769
Solution 1
Please scan for driver automatically in the Windows 8 system files.
Step 1
Right click Computer, and then click Manage.
NOTE:
If you are not an administrator, you’ll be prompted to type in an administrator password, and then click on Yes.
Step 2
Open device manager, right click on your adapter, and then click Scan for hardware changes.
Then in several seconds, the driver will be installed automatically.
Solution 2
Please try to upgrade the driver in the Windows 8 system files.
Step 1
Right click on your adapter, and then click Update Driver Software…
Step 2
Click Browse my computer for driver software.
Step 3
Browse to find the drivers, and then click on Next. The path is normally:
C:\Windows\System32\Drivers
Tip: Please tick Include subfolders.
Step 4
The driver will be installed automatically, and then please click on Close.
Solution 3
If your computer has access to the Internet via another adapter, you can also search the available driver automatically from the Internet.
Step 1
Right-click on your adapter, and then click Update Driver Software…
Step 2
Click Search automatically for updated driver software.
Step 3
The driver will be installed automatically, and then please click Close.
