Get Connected, a Community Broadband Standardised on TP-Link Hardware To Provide 160 Mbps Broadband for Just £27 per Month
4th October 2022 - Reading, United Kingdom - TP-Link®, the leading provider of consumer WiFi networking devices, is proud to announce its partnership with Get Connected.
Today, Get Connected is launching its first nationwide fibre broadband subscription to provide affordable monthly cable and 4G contracts. This means the not-for-profit organisation, which started in just three weeks during Covid, is now a fully-fledged broadband provider.
Soaring cost-of-living prices mean that households are struggling more than ever to afford essential internet connectivity. Get Connected Community Broadband provides a 160 Mbps broadband service for just £27 per month. It can be set up quickly and the flexibility allows you to stop and start as needed. It also offers unlimited data - with a fair usage policy.
Customers are supplied with reliable TP-Link® routers that can be plugged into a mains socket and as long as there is a good 4G mobile signal in the area, this will give devices an internet Wi-Fi signal. And now customers will also have a fibre option after Get Connected partnered with providers such as BT to utilise their service, giving the customers the choice of cable.
Get Connected is a collaboration between several organisations, including HartlePower IT consultancy High Tide Group, social change charity Joseph Rowntree Foundation, The Wharton Trust and Redcar & Cleveland Voluntary Development Agency.
Andrew Ingram, Director of High Tide explains: “Get Connected was set up initially as a project in just three weeks during Covid when children had to study from home. The Department of Education was issuing some children with dongles and a tablet but they didn’t work together and the dongles only provided 3GB of data which was used up within a day. The solution wasn't working so we quickly negotiated a deal with Three to supply dongles with 600GB worth of data. We then struck a deal with TP-Link to use their routers and then started working with councils, getting the solution quickly deployed around the country.
“Soaring cost-of-living prices mean that households are struggling more than ever to afford essential internet connectivity. Get Connected Community Broadband aims to be an open and honest broadband provider. Working with a number of suppliers Get Connected is able to provide 160 Mbps broadband for £27 Per month on a 12-month contract with no hidden costs. We are working hard to try and push the costs down more and get as many people online as possible.”
Kalam Meah, ISP Director for TP-Link, a leading global provider of business and consumer networking products said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have teamed up with Get Connected in providing quality routers which will have a huge impact on communities nationwide. Ultimately, I believe there should be a national broadband service but at the very least broadband should be available to all at an affordable price. Especially at this time where households are struggling with rising energy costs, dependable, low-cost broadband that doesn’t tie in customers is crucial.”
