TP-Link upgrades Tapo smart home app and hits 23 million milestone
28 November 2023, Reading, UK - TP-Link, the leading global provider of networking and smart home technologies, has today announced the launch of the Tapo 3.0 application. Now compatible with TP-Link’s Kasa technologies, users can enjoy full integration and control of all their TP-Link devices through one unified platform.
This development follows the company’s recent milestone of supporting more than 13 million Tapo app users and more than 10 million Kasa app users worldwide, reaffirming its position as a global leader in smart home innovation.
Harmonising the smart home
TP-Link launched Tapo in September 2019 to provide users with an alternative suite of smart home devices. Operating alongside Kasa this enabled users to adopt and build an affordable and unique ecosystem. The integration of Kasa devices with the Tapo app means users can now enjoy complete compatibility of their TP-Link smart home devices* eliminating the need to switch between apps to manage their units.
Users now simply add their Kasa devices to the Tapo app in order to group and manage Kasa devices. Smart action and controls - such as setting schedules for smart bulbs, or checking energy usage of devices through Kasa smart plugs - is a further benefit.
Fresh design for enhanced user experience
Tapo 3.0 packs its intelligent tools in an all-new UI design, with upgraded colours to improve visual comfort, and home page optimisation for enhanced user experience and navigation. In line with user feedback, TP-Link has ensured specific features are now easier to locate and access whilst functional areas are more intuitively divided across the app - such as Room Management for better and faster control of different hubs around the home, and Live View for speedy access to live home security footage.
Still to come…
TP-Link has further exciting developments on the horizon for Tapo users such as the new smart action, Tapo Geofencing. This enables selected actions to trigger when a user is in a set vicinity of their property - for example setting up a control to turn the heating on when users are returning from work, or switching it off when they leave the house beyond a certain distance.
Other upcoming future features include:
- Lighting Effects 2.0 - expanding from 15 recommended effects to 70
- Dark Mode for softer viewing conditions
- Smart Action 2.0 to support more triggers and actions, and to optimise and increase routine actions to complete your day-to-day activities.
*The Tapo app does not yet support the management of KE100 / KE100 Kit.
