VPNFilter Malware Security
TP-Link is aware of a malware called VPNFilter, which may potentially target one of TP-Link’s routers, TL-R600VPN. TP-Link is investigating this and will update this post with information as it becomes available.
TP-Link strongly encourages users of its products to keep their devices updated with the latest firmware to protect against threats and ensure their product is up to date. In addition to updating product firmware, users should also make sure that they change the default admin password for their devices.
To update your product, see TP-Link FAQ: https://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-2139.html.
For instructions on changing your password, see TP-Link FAQ: https://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-73.html
As an extra precaution, users may turn off the remote management on their router (feature is turned off by default), by changing this setting in Advanced—>System Tools —> Administration on the “Remote Management.”
