Access Point mode aims to extend the existing wired network and expand the wireless coverage for a home network. At this time, the EasyMesh system will not create its own subnet but purely forward data between the root router and the clients.

Note:

1. Currently only Archer AX55(V1) has supported EasyMesh feature in Access Point mode. Please keep an eye on the official website and the router’s online updates for firmware updates when the new features are available.

2. In AP mode, the main device will not act as a DHCP server to assign IP addresses to the clients. Please make sure you have enabled the DHCP server function on the root router.

3. In AP mode, some advanced features will not be available in your EasyMesh Network, including Antivirus, Parental Controls, Port Forwarding, TP-Link DDNS, etc.

4. Ethernet Backhaul is also working in AP mode.

5. You can refer to the link to know the differences between the Access Point and Router mode.

Here we take Archer AX55 as an example.

To switch to Access Point mode, please login to the web management page of main router and click Advanced->System->Operation Mode. You can also refer to the link to configure the main router as Access Point mode.

Display the Operation Mode Option on the Router’s Web management interface.

After changing the operation mode, the previous satellite devices will reconnect to the main device automatically.

To add new satellite devices after the main device is changed to Access Point mode, you can log in to the web management interface of the main device, click Advanced->EasyMesh, click Add and follow the steps on the web.

Display the EasyMesh Page on the Router’s Web management interface in AP mode.
