With a TP-Link energy monitoring device, it’s feasible for you to experience energy monitoring feature both in Kasa/Tapo and SmartThings. This article will show you how to reach this.
Before getting energy monitoring started in SmartThings:
1. Please ensure your TP-Link smart device supports energy monitoring.
2. Set up your smart devices with Tapo/Kasa first.

Note:
- If you’ve set up your Matter energy monitoring device with SmartThings via Matter, please reset the device first and set it up with Tapo/Kasa, then link the Tapo/Kasa service to SmartThins and you can follow the steps below to start energy monitoring in SmartThings.
- Since the Energy feature of SmartThings currently does not support dimmer devices, the energy monitoring of the TP-Link Dimmers (like S515D) is not available within the SmartThings at this time.
Here are the steps to enable energy monitoring in SmartThings:
Step 1 Launch the SmartThings App and Tap ‘Life’.
Step 2 After you come to the ‘Life’ Page, please Tap ‘Energy’.
Step 3 Once the Energy enables, you’ll be able to use the energy monitoring of the TP-Link devices in SmartThings.
The Monthly Bill, Energy Usage and the Carbon Intensity and Emissions of all the energy monitoring devices will be displayed as below. You can Tap the arrows to check more details and scroll down to check the energy usage of each device separately.
