TP-Link® Introduces the World’s First AC1200 Range Extender with High-Speed Powerline Technology
SAN DIMAS, Calif. – July 27, 2016 – TP-Link®, a leading global provider of consumer and business networking products, today unveiled the new TL-WPA8630 KIT AC1200 Wi-Fi Range Extender, AV1200 Powerline Edition. This product is the world’s first AC1200 range extender that also features advanced HomePlug AV2 powerline technology. Thanks to its powerful signal, offering AC1200 Wi-Fi* and wired speeds of up to 1200Mbps**, you can enjoy online gaming or stream HD video from just about anywhere in the home, without interruption.
“With the TL-WPA8630 KIT, we’re delivering the very first AC1200 range extender and powerline combo on the market,” said Lewis Wu, executive vice president of TP-Link USA. “TL-WPA8630 KIT combines the best of both worlds to provide home Ethernet and Wi-Fi networks that expand beyond the typical coverage area and across concrete walls or floors, delivering consistent and strong internet coverage to any room in the home.”
The TL-WPA8630 KIT connects to your router via an Ethernet connection and establishes a wired powerline network over your home’s existing electrical wiring using HomePlug AV2 Technology. From there, a high-speed AC1200 Wi-Fi signal is made readily available to any area of your home, from the depths of the basement to the far reaches of your attic. Unlike traditional range extenders, which require placement within your router’s coverage zone, the TL-WPA8630 KIT eschews these limitations to extend Ethernet and Wi-Fi coverage through traditional internet barriers like cement walls and floors.
It’s also incredibly easy to set-up. Simply plug one powerline adapter into the wall and connect it to your router, while placing the second adapter in a distant room where stronger Wi-Fi is desired for a seamless wired or wireless internet connection. The units are enabled with Powerline MIMO and Beamforming technology, which increases the strength and speed of the signal to outlets in every corner of the home, further strengthening coverage. You can also use its three Gigabit Ethernet ports to simultaneously run multiple high-speed wired connections for devices like smart TVs, PCs and game consoles.
The TL-WPA8630 KIT powerline adapter is compatible with all routers and can connect up to 16 different adapters on one network, providing comprehensive wired and wireless coverage throughout the home.

*Maximum wireless transmission rates are the physical rates derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Range and coverage claims are based upon test results under normal usage conditions. Actual wireless transmission rate and wireless coverage are not guaranteed, and will vary as a result of 1) environmental factors, including building materials, physical objects and obstacles, 2) network conditions, including local interference, volume and density of traffic, product location, network complexity, and network overhead and 3) client limitations, including rated performance, location, connection quality, and client condition.
**The terms “AV1200” and “1200Mbps,” are derived from applicable specifications and refer to the theoretical maximum physical-layer data transfer rate. Those terms are used on this product solely to indicate its compatibility with other “AV1200” or “1200Mbps” Powerline devices. Actual data speeds vary and are limited by the product’s Ethernet port and other network conditions such as data traffic, electrical noise, and wiring issues. If you are uncertain about your network conditions, you should consult an IT professional to assist in selecting a networking product.
