How to Setup the TP-Link SR20 Using the Kasa App

This guide will walk you through the setup process for the SR20 using the TP-Link Kasa app.  If you have not already downloaded the Kasa app on your Android or IOS device please go to your app store to download the application.  If you need assistance in creating a Cloud Account please click HERE.

 

Step 1:  Open your TP-Link Kasa app.

Step 2:  Tap the “+” to add a new device. 

Step 3:  Tap on “Smart Router”.

Step 4:  Review the “Let’s get started” setup to ensure you have the necessary equipment to continue your setup. Once you have verified that you have the items listed tap “Start”.

 

Step 5:  Choose a good location for your new router, then tap “Next”.

Step 6:  Remove your old router if you have not already and tap “Next”.

 

Step 7:  Connect you modem to the “blue” ethernet port on the router then tap “Next”.

Step 8:  Power up the router and tap “Next”

Step 9:  wait for the setup screen and tap “Next”.

 

Step 10: (Apple IOS only) Leave the app and go to your WiFi setting and connect to the network displayed on the router’s screen.

*Note:  Skip to Step 12 if using an Android device for this setup.

  

Step 11:  Confirm you are connected to the router’s network.

Step 12:  Go back and open your Kasa app.

Step 13:  The Kasa app will look for and connect to your router.  Once it does, tap “Detect Internet”

    

Step 14:  Once the router has established a connection, you will be asked to create a Wi-Fi name and password for your network.  Once completed tap “Next”.

  

Step 15:  The router will build your network.

Step 16: (Apple IOS only) Leave the app one more time and go to your wireless settings.  Change your connection to the new network you created and connect. 

*Note:  Skip to Step 18 if using an Android device for this setup.

    

Step 17:  Go back and open your Kasa app.

Step 18:  Kasa will connect to your new network.  Once completed a speed test will run.  Tap “Done” once the test is completed

Step 19:  If successful the Router will show under your Smart Home devices.
