Part 2: How to choose the correct device

When you plan to buy a suitable TP-Link DSL modem router, you may take the following factors into your consideration according to your actual network environment.

1). the bandwidth of your Internet Service Plan

TP-Link has ADSL modem routers and VDSL modem routers. ADSL modem router can only work with the internet service plan which has no more than 25Mbps bandwidth, which means ADSL modem routers can only work on ADSL line, however, VDSL modem router would support higher speed more than 25Mbps, which means that VDSL modem router can work not only on ADSL line but also on VDSL line. Thus, when you choose TP-Link modem router, please figure out the bandwidth provided by your Internet Service Provider first.

What’s more, wireless speed of TP-Link DSL modem router is an important factor to evaluate different devices as well.

2). some special settings required by Internet Service Provider

Some Internet Service Providers now providing NBN Internet Service for their customers, which would require some special settings set on TP-Link DSL modem routers, like VLAN ID or changing the operation mode. Please refer to the following compatibility list for NBN service:

3).variety of your wireless client devices

Currently, most of wireless client devices are using dual band network adapters, which means that they can support 2.4G and 5G at the same time. If you have multiple dual band wireless client devices, it is more suggested for you to choose dual band TP-Link DSL modem routers rather than signal band devices.

4). VoIP service from Internet Service Provider

TP-Link DSL modem routers include VoIP modem routers and non-VoIP modem routers. If you have VoIP phone provided by your Internet Provider and want to use VoIP service, please choose VoIP modem routers.
