How to configure Wireless Router as Main AP Mode?
A TP-Link mesh router can work as a Main AP in a mesh network, which is used for controlling other AP, client roaming, etc…
Check whether the wireless router can work with your other AP. If you are not sure, please contact us for help.
Reminder: After setting as the Main AP, you can add other AP to the mesh network via WPS Button or web page.
There are two methods to set your wireless router as the main AP. Here we take EX221-G5 for demonstration:
Method One: Via Quick Setup
- Log in to the web interface of the router. If you don’t know how to do that, please refer to
How do I log into the web-based Utility (Management Page) of TP-Link wireless router?
- Run the Quick Setup, select AP Mode > Main AP, click Next and wait for the router to reboot, the router will become a controller.
Method Two: Via Operation Mode
- Login to the web interface of the router. If you don’t know how to do that
- Go to Advanced > Operation Mode, select Access Point > Main AP and click Save, the router will reboot and become the Main AP.
