How to add a Range Extender to an EasyMesh Network as a Satellite Device

EasyMesh routers and range extenders can work together to form one unified, seamless Wi-Fi network that you can move through with ease and without an interruption in your connection.

Note: Routers and Range extenders must be compatible with EasyMesh or OneMesh™. A Firmware upgrade may be required to use EasyMesh services. Visit https://www.tp-link.com/easymesh/product-list/ for a complete list of EasyMesh-compatible devices.

Follow these steps to add a Range extender as a satellite node.

Method 1

This method is only suitable for the case that the main router is a TP-Link Archer router.

1. Visit http://tplinkwifi.net and log in with your TP-Link ID or the password you set for the main router. Please refer to the instructions here to log in.

2. Go to Advanced > EasyMesh and enable EasyMesh.

3. Remember to place the Range Extender closer to the main router. Then, connect to the Range Extender's Wi-Fi and open a web browser. Enter http://tplinkrepeater.net in the URL field and log in to the Range Extender's Web UI using the admin credentials. You can find more information on how to log in by referring to this FAQ.

4. Begin the Quick Setup process for the Range Extender. If the main router supports EasyMesh, you will see an EasyMesh/Mesh icon under its SSID. If the icon is not shown, please ensure that the main router has EasyMesh enabled, and that the firmware is up to date.

Note: In the Tether app, you may see OneMesh and not EasyMesh, even if the extender has already supported EasyMesh. This phrasing will be addressed in later firmware releases.

5. After finishing the Quick Setup configuration, you can check the mesh device on the router’s web management page.

Method 2

1. Visit http://tplinkwifi.net, and log in with your TP-Link ID or the password you set for the main router. Please refer to this FAQ to log in.

2. Go to Advanced > EasyMesh and enable EasyMesh.

2. Plug in the extender near the main router.

3. Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on the main router and on the extender. Wait until the WPS process is complete.

4. Done! You can also check the mesh device on the router's web page.
