1. Check the Internet Seed Through Your Deco:

First, Ensure that you have properly tested the internet speed and understand the results by following this FAQ: How Do I Test the Speed of my Deco Network?

If the Speed from the Main Deco is lower than expected, please see the FAQ: Troubleshoot Slow Speed on Main Deco

2. The Expected Speed of a Satellite Deco Will Depend on If the Backhaul Between Nodes is Wired or Wireless:

For Satellite Decos with a Wireless Backhaul, please move the node closer to the main Deco and place it in clear sight, Do Not put a Deco Node in Closets, TV cabinets, or any kind of enclosed space. Follow our FAQ: How To Find a Suitable Spot for a Deco for more information on what could affect your signal quality.

Due to the working pattern and protocol/regulation of Wi-Fi technology, the more wireless hops, the slower the speed would be due to the overhead cost of wireless communication. As a result, Satellite Decos will not get the same speed as the Main Deco when using a Wireless Backhaul.

Learn More About Why This Happens in our FAQ: Why is my satellite Deco unit not getting the same speed as the main Deco?

For Satellite Decos with an Ethernet Backhaul, all Deco units’ speeds should be the same. If the speed between units is dramatically different, please check the quality and rating of your ethernet cables, and ensure that there is no visible damage to your cable.

We recommend bringing your satellite Deco into the same room and testing the wired speeds with a short ethernet cable to help determine if there may be a fault in your cable or in wall cabling that is affecting the performance of your network.
